A nearly perfect vermin carry rifle?

I have a bit of a gap in what I shoot overland, at one end I have a lightweight .22 Rimfire and at the other end Accuracy International in 6,5x47 and .308 and they all give good service however they are limited as well, I would not use a rimfire on anything larger than a rabbit and an AI is quite a brute to carry through woodland, let alone swing onto a target quickly so I need something in-between.
It needs to be easy to carry for longer periods, easily manoeuvrable and accurate out to a reasonable distance with the ability to cleanly kill vermin including Fox and Muntjac and I do not want to own or shoot a .223 for such work. Any suggestions for a cartridge and rifle for the job? I prefer a wooden stock to composite/plastic and something accurate and a little old school.
Thoughts anyone?

For my stalking rifle I use a sportier profile remmy that I can carry all day as nice and light even with a mod on
Down side is its 308 and it has an after market HS stock on it
So I would say anything that is sporter profile and caliber discussions could go on for ever so couple of options I would put out there would be 22-250, swift or hornet( at a push ) or go for 6mm or 6.5mm range
Would have thought that a wooden stock would be counter productive on weight but in sporter profile would probably not make a huge difference

BSA or Parker Hale sporter in 222 Remington.
Or a break barrel single shot like the Baikal in the same most excellent calibre.

Er, you HAVE an candidate already - that Winchester 94 in 30-30...
Get some light bullet loads made up = flatter shooting for vermin, etc. & yet still deer legal at the upper end of the power spectrum.
Not a 10kg lump to carry around either...

I'd rather use my Sako L46 in 7x33 - deadly accurate and a lot of put down power. No recoil to talk of and accurate as hell.
