Has anybody here used one of these recently?
I'm thinking of booking one but at £50 for a session it's a lot to pay if they don't work very well.

They seem to be working ok after the initial Gremlins. I used them a couple of weeks ago.

used them a couple of times faster than the scorers

Only Issue with them is that you get through a lot of bullets.

You may need to adjust your style of shooting. There is no reaction time between shot & seeing the plot, That can hurry some on too much & they fail to assess the wind correctly. In TR I shoot, demount gun, hand out of sling, unload, chamber a new round, by the time i have done that & looked at flags the target is up & then I have thinking time to plot & assess wind & make any changes. With electronics the plot is there & I dont need to put gun down - it can change fullbore to more like small bore.

With a service rifle you can shoot, glance, correct & shoot again very quickly.

I wish they would fit Sticks with them. Marking there is so variable because of the shape & distance of the backstop & if wet you cant see any sand splash. Because they are in the Pirbright danger area the markers are locked in, so self marking club means whoever is there is isolated for 4 hrs & cant participate.

Make sure you have proper zeros so you are on target! if you hit the frame you can kill the detectors NO walking shots onto target by marker feed back, as some who abuse the ranges do. For that reason you cant use them for standing unless at 100yds, vs a std manual 300yds frame can be standing with permission.

Am not sure if you can use 22 i shot 22 TR to 300-400yds & think there is insufficient sound to make the system work?,.

Why does "walking a shot" on using marker feedback abuse the range? It's part of the bore sighting routine, surely?

I recently watched a club 'RO' reporting messages from the butts to his shooters: "You're over the sand-bank". Seriously - this guy was conducting shooting and allowing his shooters to continue sending rounds towards the Lightwater housing estate. Absolutely shocking. He spent a considerable time himself trying to get on-target with his AR at 1000 yards. It really falls on us all to ensure that anyone who behaves like this is hauled off for re-education before the facility is lost to everyone.

If you aren't on-target with your first, you should not proceed unless you can find and rectify a definite cause. Miss again and it should be off to the zero range, or whatever it takes to get a first round hit - No ifs, no buts. The danger area at Bisley is a ricochet danger area.
