Full bore rifle at Commonwealth Games

Just a quick one, I was having a conversation with a bloke who reckoned he'd read/heard somewhere that full bore rifle was to be dropped from the competition after the next Commonwealth games. He muted that "live fire" pistol was also on the cards to be dropped leaving just air pistol, with laser pistols for Modern Pentathlon.

No more full bore rifle! Shocking!

I don't think there is any official position to remove full-bore rifle, and ultimately it is down to the host nation to decide what sports and disciplines they will include. Durban 2022 currently are not planning to include full-bore rifle. It seems strange, since they have a suitable range within the region and they are strong competitors; there is certainly plenty of pressure on them to change. Whether or not subsequent Games include it will depend on who the host is. Current possibilities include Edmonton and several UK possibilities: I suspect all would be likely to include full-bore rifle, since they have suitable facilities and good medal records & chances.

My understanding is that the Gold Coast organising committee were not originally going to include the event but after it was pointed out to them that Australia stands a fair chance of a medal and the facilities are already in place they did an about turn on the decision.
