Just watching yet another Police Reality show on the box.....this one is about the City of London Police.
So, quick Google later and it turns out the City has a population of only 8,000 and yet has 2 licensing officers - this must be the highest ratio of FEOs to population! I'm not sure how many FAC and SGC holders there are int he square mile, but it can't be that many. Wonder how long it takes for a grant or variation? Anyone had any experience?

2 FEO's for 8,000 residents?
Is that one actual FEO & 1 silver service waiter to deliver the FAC/SGC in the correct type of jewel encrusted terrine?
No doubt they just turn out for the home visit with a portable printer & issue/amend the certificate on the spot.
Folk living in that postcode will not be accustomed to waiting weeks/months for basic services.

Dave did it actually say firearms licensing, they are not referring to licensing officers as in The Licensing Act of 2003 are they?
I would have thought that with so few SG and FAC holders that any enquiry officers or managers would also have other duties.

Thanks for the figures - made interesting reading...and the thought of 'Print at Home' FACs brought a grin to my face
Yep, 2 FEOs according to the forces Firearms Licensing page
https://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/advi ... nsing.aspx
Although another page does only mention one FEO and a couple of officers dealing with non-Firearms related work.....

Poor bloke, if he is on his own I hope he can cope with his workload doubling
I would
really like to know the grant and variation timescales for these guys.....should put even the 'good' forces to shame!

But as per my first link... "The City of London Police Licensing Department is based at Upper Thames St, London. We have two licensing officers, who handle any firearms applications or requests for advice that we receive."

I am in south east London and fall under the met police they are consistently fantastic! I have had about 8 variations over the years coming back within a week when posted to them next day delivery. Seriously can't fault them at all.
