Tikka T3 lite - what to do with it?

Having got nowhere selling my T3 Tikka Lite, I took it in to Fultons today to see if they would sell it. They won't, because there is pitting in the last 6" or so of the barrel, and they told me that this was probably due to the over barrel moderator being left on at some point after the rifle was used but not cleaned. This was done by a previous owner, I have no moderator for it.
But now I'm left wondering what the best thing to do with it is. It's not worth that much, probably not worth the cost of a new barrel. So I could organise with my FEO to hand the barrel and action in for scrapping, I could perhaps sell the stock, not sure if the bolt is saleable, being a pressure bearing part. As the damage seems to be in the end of the barrel, it might be possible to cut that off, but it would be close to the legal barrel length afterwards.
Anyone got any other cunning plan for what to do with it?

Post removed, this is not the sell and buy section!
You wouldn't think we have a PM system.

how about taking it to Neil Mckillop and seeing what he can do?
cutting the barrel down and rethreading it would make a handy woodland rifle or truck gun depending on calibre,
and never just hand them in to the Police it will just be recorded as a weapon taken off the streets! get an RFD to scrap it, if you must.
People are always raving about the Tika actions you would think there would be a market for them, how does it shoot? pitting doesn't always mean its buggered.

Pitting on the outside of the barrel? Is it so bad it won't polish out with wire wool and oil?

It's never been accurate, people always talk about the Tikka action, but I suspect this one was sold to me because the barrel damage made it inaccurate. I tended to use it at 100yds, anything further away than that was a bit pointless.

I'd chop it to remove the damaged section, then re-crown it & shoot.
Done carefully this can be a DIY remedy with very little outlay - just as long as the remaining barrel is over the 12" min. limit. (as long as is possible would be good)
If it shoots ok after this I'd then have it threaded for a moderator to cut down on blast
Could end up with a very handy truck/woodland rifle if not rushed

Is it a long or short action.

I think they are all the one length, but stand happy to be corrected on that.

Just had "a thunk" = i.e. when Phaedra has a bright idea, but more of a clunk sound when the penny drops onto the hard surface :)
The Finns had a technique to save otherwise worn/shot out barrels, without sacrificing length & sight radius.
Get the barrel back-bored if cutting it will be too much drama.
