Can anyone tell me if the cost of having a rifle sent has gone up recently I've just had to pay £75 for the privilege here in London from one of those fancy pants gun makers is this the new standard price? Or are other dealers still charging £25

I use Parcel Force and as far as I am aware their prices are still as they were, send stuff every week and haven't noticed an increase. It is nowhere near £75, maybe it is my pricing that is wrong and I should charge £75 for sending a gun as people are obviously willing to pay it.

Trade RFD's can use Parcel Farce.

Someone just bought an RFD a very nice slap up dinner for two.

Just to clarify, RFDs can send with Royal Mail and Parcelforce. Non RFDs can't.

We charge £25 for a firearms shipment, nothing to receive, if insurance is needed (more than £100) then it costs more.

It is an extra fiver for every £500 insurance needed.

According to the RM website one needs to be a business in order to ship a firearm.

Not at all, anyone can send firearms via the Post Office/Parcelforce as long as you send them to someone authorised to receive them, ie. an RFD not just an SGC/FAC holder.

Guns for sporting use.

Guns intended for sporting purposes - including Section 1 (e.g. hunting rifles) and Section 2 (e.g. shotguns) firearms, low-powered air weapons and their component parts - may be sent in compliance with UK law and subject to domestic controls on the possession of firearms. Antiques, deactivated and imitation firearms are also permitted.

When sending deactivated firearms include proof of deactivation. Items that appear to be prohibited weapons may be subject to additional checks and delays.

Have done so myself about three times in 2016 - purely as an FAC/SGC holder - to ship S1/S2 guns to an RFD
