I recently acquired a wamadet press Its great but spares are all most none existent. Some one I know was after a replacement cartridge shell holder he discovered that a replacement was harder to find than rocking horse poo.
So I made him one. Its probably the most expensive shell holder ever made. I had to totally dismantle my lathe and transport it to work were it was totally stripped of its Chinese electrics. The motor was binned the casing holding the electrics and motor were binned. A inverter a speed control pod and new motor were purchased the lathe was modified and fitted with its new motor and control system. Any way this is the end result.

Good news, this must mean no more lack of power and overheating with the occasional burning smell signifying a drive board has just destroyed itself whilst protecting a 50p fuse.

Swap the old booger a nice press & he loses bits off it!

Doing a Wamadet accessory project myself.
One of the good features of the design is that it also swages, so I'm copying the Wamadet add-on handle & push-rod unit....so I can swage shotgun slug, then push the resized slug from the die. (Got a couple of old Lyman Forster slug two part kits: the under-size slug molds & the swaging dies, for both 12-ga &16-ga. It's also why the present slugs are so undersized & shoot badly = they're meant to be resized to bore dia. after casting)

Still sourcing the flat bar. Metal shop was closed last time I went.

Yes its a flying machine now and super smooth and quieter in operation but this has turned out to be a very expensive small lathe. If i was doing it again I would not by the same machine I would buy a secondhand ex school lathe or similar. But hindsight is a wonder full thing. I would still like to acquire some thing bigger may be she will come round.

The guy I made the part for does not seem in any hurry to acquire it so I have been using it on my Wamadet. It works a treat. I like it its better than the original. I have made a couple of other bits for the press. The Wamadet is a cracking piece of kit I find my self using it more and more.
They are shutting down another machine shop at work. There is a Myford ML10 lathe. A Hardinge tool makers lathe and a Bridgeport Mill as well as drill presses welding gear and tons of tooling and milling cutters etc. I am watching with interest.

The ML7 should go for good money, more than they are worth being quite honest however they appeal to hobby machinists. The Hardinge dependant on model and Bridgeport would probably set you up for life assuming they are both in reasonable condition. Incidentally a Bridgeport regardless of size is no replacement for a good Drill press. If they have an AC/DC Tig that fits in the back of a car it would be worth making an offer on it at the same time, ours is an essential part of the workshop these days.

Gutted. Just found out the hardinge lathe fully tooled and the bridgeport mill fully tooled and I mean FULLY tooled they have every add on you could possibly want including DRO's (digital read outs.) and a pillar drill was sold for £1000. This is on the understanding that they have them removed at the purchasers cost by the end of April.

FFS! A scrappy bares bones Bridgeport in vaguely half reasonable condition is 3x that.

Im in a deep depression the lathe and mill are in superb condition they have both been maintained to a high standard. All the tig, arc, and mig welders were given away as well as taps dies, milling cutters hand grinders, hand tools etc every thing has to go.
