Thinking of getting one for my cabinet keys.

The C500 "Police Approved" looks good, but expensive. The Master safes with combination lock look a bit fiddly.

What do people use?

I use a Master Lock one.

I can get 4 keys in it but it is a bit fiddly to get all 4 in. They only go one way around.

It does the job. My cabinet keys are in it and the family does not know where it is.

Is that important? As long as they don't know the code they don't have access to the keys.

I've just fitted the Master 8 key version as its big enough, just, to fit the safe keys in as they're longer than the house keys the safe is designed for

I think for that sort of money I would hold out for a proper combination safe.

Before you consider a 'Master' key safe, try Google and look at all the videos and helpful hints for the local miscreants to get in to them in under 30 seconds using just a piece of aluminium cut from a soft drink tin.

There's a lot of information readily available on how to bypass nearly all 'Master' products with very little effort and time.

Yale do a similar one that appears to be harder to crack but it doesn't look big enough for security keys.

There are similar videos for the C500 keysafe.

That is why I hide mine.

At the end of the day there is always a way through a lock if you want.

I asked my local specialist lock shop for their opinion, if possible a security rated combination floor safe in a concrete floor is best, followed by a securely fixed rated combination safe, large enough to be difficult to physically remove quickly. The floor safe was the cheaper option but obviously more difficult /disruptive to fit. Beyond that hiding well is a good option.

Those push button key safes often have a couple of weaknesses, one is that with regular use the buttons pick up wear and marks which show which ones are being used most often, the second is that it usually doesn't matter which order you enter the numbers to get it to open.
