Hello

I was looking at some telescopic sights and a few advertise
them with a large adjusting wheel attached to the left to right
adjusting screw.

What purpose does this wheel serve?

Is left to right fine tuning so sensitive it needs the large wheel?

They're popular with the airgun Field target shooters. It adjusts the paralax of the scope, and is a simple range finder in the comps where targets are at varying ranges

Its for finer adjustment of focus on the parallax knob (oo er)
