Disposing of Scrap cartridges ~
I've got several .357 cartridges, that are too 'wrong' to shoot.
These were 'errors' made by me, in setting up a new Press.
They can't be 'pulled', so are complete live cartridges.
What's the best way to dispose of live, but un-shootable, cartridges..?

Pull the bullets even if you have to use pipe grips , if they are too far in to be gripped I would use pipe cutters to cut the case in half and then dispose of the powder and primer .
If you are worried about the powder igniting then submerge the round in water and dril a hole through the case no heat or sparks and the powder will die as soon as the water hits it.

Re: Disposing of Scrap cartridges ~
What have you done to them that make you say they can't be pulled??
I made some pretty spectacular efforts when I was setting up my press but I managed to get them apart with a kinetic hammer bullet puller

One bullet is most of the way into the case aaargghBlackstuff wrote:What have you done to them that make you say they can't be pulled?
The rest, should 'pull', I just may not have used the kinetic hammer hard enough!
Re: Disposing of Scrap cartridges ~
your not a proper reloader until your on your second kinetic puller !

When it comes to the kinetic hammer, I find not only does it need a Massive amount of force, it needs to be a solid surface too. any kind of padding between it and the hard surface slows down the bullet too much :(
They'll come out. just give it a massive whack

With a normal light crimp and using the amount of force I use it takes between 20-30 hits to get the bullet free (.223). When I'd 'He-man' crimped one it took close to 40!David Nimrod wrote:One bullet is most of the way into the case aaargghBlackstuff wrote:What have you done to them that make you say they can't be pulled?

Yup... I've 'pulled' half of 'em, whacking the hammer against a piece of 20mm plank, which is now splintered into bits!
I reckon I'll start on a harder surface now
Eventually, those bastids'll come apart!!!

I use a small block of mild steel about an inch thick. Wood gives too much for my liking...David Nimrod wrote:Yup... I've 'pulled' half of 'em, whacking the hammer against a piece of 20mm plank, which is now splintered into bits!
