Was in conversation today and was talking about scopes. I was extolling the virtues of discovering how good Vortex was and it was pointed out by a mate along the lines it was a good job I found a replacement as my beloved Mk4s (at one time I had 7 fitted to different rifles!) won't be available for much longer.... He also reckoned to hold on to them as they are being bought up Stateside and have "shot up" in second hand prices?!
A little research shows he's right! Leupold announced last year that Mk4s will only be sold to the military come January 2018! How did I miss that?! aaarggh

I don't know anything about scopes I have heard of Leupold obviously by name but other than that it means nothing to me.

I have had a couple.
My first quality scope purchase as I recall.
Only niggle for me was they were very sensitive to eye relief.

I have a Chinese copy of a mk 4 long range jobbie...1moa per click....I bought 2 at £19.99 each...post paid. They both work perfectly, good glass...shot at Bisley with 308 factory at 300 yds.....worked perfectly. The main visible difference from the real thing is no gold badge and a fake sn on each scope. You have to wonder where the genuine Leupolds are made....these copies do not seem to be about these days. Some Chinese stuff is total cr*p...some is decent quality.

Got a Leupold MkIV LRT with Mildot, pity I left it in the States

... And YES eye relief is fiddly with it.
Had it on my AE .308 - very good bit of kit.

Leupold & Stevens have a series of factory tour YouTube videos which show you how they are made in the USA. They design the lenses but the actual manufacture is done by a specialist company. Leupold offer a lifetime warranty, not sure if you get that with a cheap Chinese knock off scope.
