Any one using Bullseye in 38/357 using 158grain lead/cast bullets with any success. What charge weights do you use.

3.5gns. It a spl load in a magnum case. Gives around 900fps out of a 16" barrel and gives 3" groups, rested at 50. Beyound that it tails right off.

I know a couple of guys who shoot in the National gallery rifle squad that swear by Bullseye. Sorry but I don't know what loads they use other than that they use swaged bullets rather than cast. Their results are much better than the 3" 50m groups that Sim G mentions getting with his Winchester above.

Bullseye is my stand-by powder. It will suffice in most target applications at medium ranges. Powder of choice is HS6. And given the limitations of leverguns in pistol calibers, I'd be very surprised if their results were "much better".... and mine is a Marlin.

Sorry to insult you Sim by suggesting you shot a Winchester, I must have still had Winchester in my head when I typed from a post that I was just reading earlier. These guys are shooting Marlins also. In fact they are quite critical of Winchesters when it comes to competition use for gallery events.

My Winchester '92 is 115 years old. When i bought it in the mid 1980s, I stripped and cleaned it. I use a 240grn bullet, tumbled in liquid alox, in it from a Lee mould with 5.3 grn of Bullseye. After use, I push a couple of dry patches through it which always come out black and sooty. It has had no other attention in all that time.

That can't be chambered for .38/.357 then!
.44-40 by any chance?
