I just heard that the EU have commissioned a report on the banning of lead for ammunition initially for shotguns, but it is intended that ALL lead ammunition is banned eventually.

This includes .22 ammunition and lead balls for muzzle loaders as well as cast bullets for military rifles and lever actions.

Given the umpteen thousands of tonnes of lead used in roof construction and as such exposed to the elements for the lifespan of the building, i'd hazard a guess ,that if you wanted to reduce the amount of lead finding its way into the environment, stripping church roofs would be far more effective.

Hopefully we'll be beyond the reach of any legislation, should it come about.

Any one that thinks leaving the EU will stop the crazy gun edicts only has to look at UK legislation and all of the committees on gun controls.
We are were/all in the EU with supposedly harmonised gun controls, so how is it that there are different gun laws within the EU, why can you have handguns in Ireland and the Isle of man. Some countries in EU still allow Semi auto full bore rifles. Is it still the case that certain EU countries don't even consider BP pistols and rifles warrant controls.

If we're in the EU politicians will say that we have to blindly follow EU directives. If we're not in the EU, we don't HAVE to comply...

Considering half of what they're proposing is already in force in the UK (no lead shot over wetlands etc) and that we've already been through the lead rigmarole and concluded it has little merit, I doubt we'll be affected by this anytime soon.

Target shooting is good for the environment.

We hoover up lead from around the world, turn it in to bullets and deposit it in a small number of known locations :D
