I am a little bit concerned about this situation:
The prosecution accepted he was not holding them for criminal purposes but were concerned they could have fallen into the wrong hands.
I bet that a lot of us shooters have items that in the wrong hands can be used illegally.

Yes... kitchen knives, screwdrivers, hammers, all those nasty things that COULD be used illegally...
ok, I'm confused... hes admitted and been charged with illegally owning imitation and blank-firing firearms, which require no certificate..?!?!

I expect holding the small quantities of cannabis with intent to supply / or for self medication (this isn't properly clarified) painted him into a corner and he was obliged to throw his hands up to the well-worn narrative in return for a suspended sentence. This would have all blown over had it not been for the weed. I'm sure the streets are a lot safer for this.

Usual poor reporting by a presumably gun ignorant reporter, ending up in a totally baffling report.

If he pleaded guilty to illegal guns then it is probably irrespective whether the guns are actually illegal?

St Albans Crown Court heard police in a raid found two antique weapons shorter than pens among other blank firearms.
whut??
this article is written so poorly! and how long is a pen anyway?
Prosecutor Martin Mulgrew told the court that as well as the two small antique weapons, officers found other small pistols and a .22 rifle in the search of his council flat in Colborne House on 14 March 2016.
Mr Mulgrew said: "They were all blank firearms, not real firearms.
does the HO need to define 'real firearm' now?

None of that report made sense. Realistic Imitation Firearms are defined as per the VCR Act. But the thing is, the same Act actually provides defences to the said possession and theatrical, film or TV is one of those expressed defences!!
Likewise, the suspended sentence itself does not equate to firearms offences. It would though, equate to shall scale canabis dealing.
Can't help but think that the court reporter has done a really sh1t job of recording the proceedings and the true picture has not been presented....

I reckon that about sums it up but the BBC are never slow to make mountains out of molehills in regard to firearms.

Yep, probably telling that no other news outlet including local papers have seen fit to cover the story. Which may become clearer perhaps with the judge's summing up?
