Not a scout rifle as it is .223 however it is a good looking rifle and has a US list price of USD800 and takes AR15 magazines, it also takes NATO 5.56x45 so a good fun rifle with a source of cheapish ammunition. I wonder if it will get to us.

Phwoarrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm a little bit of a Mossberg collector, especially their WW2 training rifles. A prodigious and underated producer with many innovative designs. Their sales shows their popularity but they are never considered sexy, one of the reasons why I'm so fond of Mossbergs. A fine gun house indeed nice to see the stand off 'tween Savage and Mossberg leaving the rest of the popular field.

Scout rifle?

What about the Savage 1899 as a scout base?

Now there is a rifle!

Funny Savage was mentioned, I think that Mossberg looks like something Savage could have made.

Not bad at all.

Aye, they are scarce over here though, I have only ever seen one in the flesh but it was a stunner, and silly money from memory...

Adam had a lovely 1899 on his rack at Phoenix!

Kit like the Mossberg is probably not going to be popular in the UK, purely based on the price. As good as they are and importer, by the time export, import, shipping, taxes, operating costs and profit is built into the gun, they are going to want the thick end of 1000 pounds to get one on your FAC....

With the internet, a buyer can see they retail for 800 dollars US and often considerably less, so the UK price will be double that! People will just not pay that much for it. The size of our market, restrictions and cost of living, we really are limited by what the market can provide reasonably. Unfortunately, that means established importers and brands that a foot hold and no doubt favorable terms at the supply point because of almost market domination.

This is why dealers shelves would have you believe that Remington and CZ are the only rifles on the market!

I have two at present, a take down in .22" Savage Hi Power and an EG in .300" Savage.

I don't think the £500 mark is expensive for a fine rifle.
