FAC wording part ll

I have just got my variation back after adding a permission. The FAC now says:

"The *** rifles and ammunition shall be used for shooting vermin and ANY OTHER LAWFUL QUARRY SUITABLE FOR THOSE CALIBRES and for zeroing-practice on ranges, on land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot"

The land is not stated, ie: mr Smiths farm.

Do I have an open ticket?
Or open for that area?
Seems as clear as mud to me! 8-)

I believe this is what's classed as semi-open. Where you're not tied to a piece of land, but any land you wish to shoot over has to previously be cleared by chief of police.

Open is where you can shoot on land that you deem suitable (and have permission for..!).

Two permissions are needed with this certificate to shoot, landowner and police, whereas with an open ticket you only need the landowner's permission. With an open ticket it is up to you to deem the land safe to shoot, the police has vetted the land in question on yours.

I have to admit that the wording used by the various firearms licensing departments lacks somewhat in clarity 5mith

Thanks for the replies people :good:

As you say Christel, lack of clarity teanews

At what point would the certificate be open? when I add more permissions or when I'm deemed suitable?
