Another sad loss for the shooting community .

Only found out this morning that Colin Greenwood had recently died .

For those who dont know , Colin was a former policeman who wrote one of the most honest reports on gun control in the UK .
Needless to say it did not make him many friends at the Home Office .

Colin then wrote and later edited Guns Review magazine till its closure after the handgun ban .

To say he was knowledgeable about shooting would be an understatement . Regardless of what shooting discipline a person followed , he treated them with respect and courtesy , unlike a certain M.Y.

His report on Gun Control is a must read , in fact I think every club should have a copy in their club room .

He will be greatly missed .

As you say, a great loss. Colin was a real champion for the shooting community and a thoroughly nice chap too. I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions, he gave me great encouragement when I first started with the Targetmaster tricklers and published the first review in Guns Review in the late 80's.
The Guns Review was a real classic magazine - In depth articles by people who know their subject.

Great guy who fought tirelessly against the pistol ban.

I met Colin a couple of times & he was a truly grear ambassador for the shooting sports who will be sorely missed.
He used to write a no punches pulled column in my trade magazine, 'Tackle & Guns', which was always worth reading.

Colin was my Supt.when I first joined the W. Y. Police he was an absolute gentleman as a boss and a genuine expert on firearms, their use, and legislation, unlike many senior police officers who now claim to be experts.
He also was regularly the o.i.c. of the big Leeds Utd. matches when they were the genuine top dogs, he was very visible even the fans new him by sight or name, no likelyhood of a Hilsborough, a genuine commander.
His expertise is now sadly missed, and lacking, a Police officer who was a policeman before being a university graduate rather than the opposite way around.
