Reloading equipment storage
I reload in the shed outside so all my kit (except powder&primers) is kept in there all the time. What methods are best for keeping the presses and dies etc. Free from corrosion etc.
Cheers

Re: Reloading equipment storage
I use sweater boxes bought from Tesco fairly cheap and you can stack them. I place a couple of these in each box. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products ... lsrc=aw.ds
Although not really needed as reloading is done in a heated garage.

Desiccant bags in sealable containers are a must really. If you go long periods without loading say 3 months, give them a light coating of oil. Clean them every time you use them and you should be good.

A good coating of a light oil never goes amiss and never ever trust WD40

I'd guess it's because it's not a lubricant as most people think it is, it's just for displacing water, hence the name "WD"
A good light oil will provide both lubrication and a thin protective film coating.

2x1kg desiccant packs with indicator balls for £10 on Amazon.
I have one hung in my gun safe & gave a mate with humidity problems the other.
My balls haven't turned green yet but his did over time.
The packs can be opened up & the desiccant dried in the oven & reused.

Re: Reloading equipment storage
My reloading kit is constantly in use worrying about storing it. Chance would be a fine thing.
If I wish I can shoot seven days a week on a outside range 20 minutes from my front door from 09:30 until Sun down. I can shoot five nights a week on a indoor range. Next year I can shoot at least three weekends out of four on MOD ranges and it looks like it may be four weekends next year.
My problem is to many range days and keeping up with reloaded ammunition. Condensation on my reloading gear is impossible. There is not enough hours in the day to reload for the calibers I shoot.

I have a lovely set of carbon steel wood carving chisels that belonged to my Grandfather, I gave them a good squirt of WD40, wrapped them carefully and left them in a draw in my shed. They had rusted when I checked them a few months and I have never forgiven myself or WD40.Gazza wrote:Enlighten us with your WD40 woes Mr Paa
