Hi,
I am hopefully getting a .223 Mossberg MVP LC soon.
Want to use it for 'casual' shooting out to 300 yrds , though may try out to 600.
I don't want to reload.
The NRA armoury sell GGG 62 grn, 69 grn match and S&B 55grn. . I wonder if anyone has had experience of these or if anyone can recommend another relatively cheap make.

I think that mossberg is a 1 in 7 twist, the 69gr will most likely perform best of the options.

The GGG 62gr delivers acceptable accuracy in my 1-7 AR.

I use the GGG 62gr in my Remmy 700SPS 26" barrel out to 600yds works very well also have put a few of the 69gr through it seemed ok, heavy or light bullet weight being suitable for your rifle will depend on barrel twist.

Also have used the 69gr in the wife's AR no issues either.

Have not tried the the S&B ammo.

Yes its 1-7. Should do better with heavier bullets, just wondered if it would shoot light ones too.
Also any other makes, cheapies such as barnaul and PPU?

I too am interested in one of those (not yet though). Please upload a few pictures when you get it and get me know what you think of it.

I saw the .223 MVP LC for sale on here a few days ago.. If I had a slot, and the cash, I'd have snapped it up...

I have the .308 version, and I'd love to own its little brother.

The only problem i've found with the .308 version is its barrel length, or lack of it... its only a 18'' barrel, so pretty difficult to stoke up loads for long (800yds +) ranges

How is the muzzle brake? I know they're not keen on them at Bisley. Thought I'd try it first before taking it off.

I have the earlier mvp with 1 in 9 twist. It is the 24inch varmint.
Tried Barnaul and that cheap hornady stuff - both 62gn. Both awful! OK on an ETR range.
69smk or scenars work just fine out to 900.
As do 77gn scenars.

Received the Mossberg week before last.
Had the muzzle brake removed by Fultons (no charge ) Range office said you need to pay 50% of the lane next to you with a muzzle brake, but more importantly you can't use the electronic targets with one due to less space between firing points. Needless to say I'm going to use electronics quite a lot with this.
Off to the zero range to sight in my old S&B PM1 12X42. Used GGG 62 grain from the range office armoury.
Flat muzzle under the brake, no crown. Rifle seemed to group well enough at the zero range, though my scope is out of focus at that range.Time will tell, may have it crowned.
Rifle functioned flawlessly, still a bit worried about the pick up flap at the front of the bolt, but all the reviews say they last, nobody has reported a broken one.
Rifle quality seems very good, maybe not up to Sako standards, but good fit and finish.
Would like to fit an M16 (same thread) flash hider, but you need a variation for one. If I have to get a variation I may go for a moderator.
Will take it out to 100yrds on Thursday weather permitting.
