Recycling Ovenpaas scrap bin

#1 Post by Alpha1 »

I packed in work yesterday Im not going back till Tuesday next week I need a break. Chill out time I decided to day was a good day to tidy up my shed. I have a box full well not as full as when it first arrived with some of the contents of Ovenpaas scrap/offcuts bin.
I stood and studied it for a while thinking what are you going to do with this little lot David then as is the way inspiration kicked in then I thought screw the tidying up switched the lathe on and the rest as they say is history. They don't look like anything Ovenpaa turned out but let's just say it's all shooting related. Ill tidy it up to morrow. Maybe.

:good:

Luckily I am at an age where by I can pack it in any time I want its up to me to decide when its the right time to go.
My bucket list is getting shorter all the time but I keep adding stuff on. I would quite like another lathe and to upgrade my mill for something better.
teanews whats next.

Not from Mr Paa's scraps, but some I already had.

Bit of background, club does a classic McQueen's shoot for pre 1945 rifles, most drag out their scoped rifles such as No4T etc, so its difficult to compete with a straight No4 on standard sights, so this year I decided to stick a scope on the No4.

Not wanting to modify the No4 one iota, and I didn't like the look of the current mount offerings, so I spent a while with vernier and CAD and designed my own solution and spent a few hours on the mill and with a bit of test fitting now have a prototype scope mount that can be swapped with the rear sight in a round two minutes.

Still need to do test firing to see how it holds up, but testing with dummy rounds has been no problem.
Its not for the purists as its a modern scope, But I like the way it looks and it should be competitive.
