Praise for Thames Valley

#1 Post by Plumose »

I received my FAC about a week and a half ago, and didn't fully check it just glanced over to see if it was as expected. I had a proper look on Monday evening and noticed that ammunition only listed .44mag and not .44spl.
I emailed them yesterday afternoon, they replied this morning and after a couple of emails they are putting a replacement showing both in first class post today.

Even nicer the person that I was dealing with is a shooter as they mentioned that they have .357mag/.38spl on their FAC.

I wonder if yours will come back simply as .44? That's what TVP put on my FAC after specifically putting .44 mag and .44 spl. on my application.
I have .38 and .357 as distinct calibres.

They did the same with .45 too (.45 Colt).

The FLO has said "I have changed the rifle to .44 Mag/.44SP with the ammo the same, so you can use both"

Yep, ex-club member of ours made same mistake, only put .44mag, so couldn't buy any cowboy action ammo as that is all .44Spl.

You need to do same with 7.62x51 and .308 to give you more ammo options.

I asked someone at the NRA armoury at Bisley about that and they said that having one on the FAC would allow you to buy either, but I still wouldn't want to risk it, and I have both on mine

some FLDs will only issue one or the other, others like TVP are happy to use both in their ammo allowances to avoid grey areas. I always specify both options with 7.62/5.56

Mine (Kent) was a bit hesitant to do it, but made it (borderline insultingly) clear that having 7.62/.308 meant that I could only get one or the other, I guess they have experience with people pushing it a bit with that kind of thing
