I am in the same situation, right handed but right eye doesn't work.
For .22lr there use to be an off set mount made but its not cheap.

for fullbore rifles

There was also a company who made a stock with a huge scollop cut into the butt so your left eye would like up with the sights on a right handed rifle, not pretty but it worked.
I found when i started shooting, to shoot a right handed rifle off a bipod in my left shoulder really helped me to get use to using my left shoulder/eye. Get them to try,as long as the bolt doesn't hit your face you never have to take your head off the butt or hand from the trigger area.
If you have access to any one who has a left handed rifle see if you can arrange for your friend to have a go.You could consider trying a Martini action rifle too as they are almost ambidextrous.
In the long run the more they shoot as a lefty the easier it will become. The only thing i still struggle with (apart from hitting the target centre)is shooting my Enfield standing, it just looks a mess
There is a big selection of rifles now available for lefty's once they get use to it.
All the best And

Your friend needs to learn to shoot left handed.
It isn't that difficult to switch over and it will make things much easier for him in the long run. There is a good selection of rifles now available for lefties in both small and full bore so as Hitchphil says .... Go with the eye!

Mrs T is right handed but left eye dominant - she just wears an eye patch for rifles and changes her grip for pistols....and she does well. Cue 25pdr with a witty comment

The Nicolas Cage film 'Wings of the Apache' has a solution to this problem

I'm like Mrs T.... been shooting right handed since a rifle was longer than i was, but was then 20 years ago was told i was left eye dominant. I can still close my left eye and shoot with my right, and for pistols I bring the gun over the the left eye if using a 2 handed grip, or close my left eye if using a UIT style stance.

I am right eye dominant, shoot longarms left handed and pistols right handed don't notice any difference when sighting with either eye.
