Tragedy, I do not think this is something that will affect shooters in AUS.

The way the papers are making constant references to Port Arthur i don't know, but i suppose it depends on what is being reported over there.

It appears to be an ex-patrner who'd been stalking one of the women victims for a while and a murder-suicide type event. Why can't these turds just do themselves in and leave others out of it

The papers will always make a reference to Port Arthur simply because it was such a horrific thing to happen.

Since PA shootings with multiple casualties have taken place in AUS however with no further changes to the firearms law.

When it is family orientated changes rarely take place.

The massacre prompted the nation to introduce tough gun controls whose supporters include former US president Barack Obama.

That just about says it all, dunnit.

Western Australian firearms laws have been held up by the Federal Govt as the 'gold standard' amongst the states yet this still happened...

The ABC has been pretty restrained in it's coverage, which isn't unusual - it does have an interesting timeline which shows PA was a blip in the numbers albeit a significant one.

After all those cases in California like those kids who'd been held captive practically all their lives including some that were practically adults, am I the only other one that thinks that we'll find something else out down the line like all the kids with autism were being abused by the granddad or some other family figure and then in a fit of mania decided they were all going down? I have this feeling something else other than the family couldn't cope with 4 autistic kids is gonna come out. I don't mean to put a damper down but something feels like they're not telling us something at this point.

It seems as far as the ABC is concerned this shooting, as tragic as it was, is not a major issue. I suspect because it was not a spee shooting and was confined to the family, that the media and general public have moved on - this certainly appears to be the case with this firearms related report from the ABC today http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-05-16/o ... il/9766192.

Edit: I would say that Australian shooters are no more stuffed than they were before this happened...
