Looking for a new club

I'm a member of a very small club that shoots once a month and are just plinkers, I will still shoot with these guys because they are my friends and have known them a long time.
I'm interested in competing in Mini rifle, can anybody that is local to me recommend a club in South East Essex that shoots more frequently and this discipline.
I'm just down the road from Basildon but have heard mixed reviews about that club but that may be just internal politics so I will keep an open mind
