their are a few people in the club I go to who want do some practical shooting on our 25 meter indoor range.
They have been asked to create a format/safe practice and put it to the committee.

Does anyone at their club have a set of rules to do practicals that they can let me see to give them a starter for 10.

Drop Vanessa Duffy of the UKPSA a line on vduffy16@aol.com She's based near Crocketford, Dumfries so might even be able to pop up to help out/organise something.

UKSPA practical mini-rifle/gallery rifle comps are ran to a hybrid of the IPSC handgun/rifle rulebook/scoring system. Its pretty basic; all shots to land in the back stop, guns not to go beyond 180 degrees parallel to the backstop when shooting/moving, finger out of the trigger guard when moving, loading, changing position etc

I would think your range rules would dictate your course design and the cone of fire that it allowed there. However, even with a relatively narrow cone you can come up with some interesting courses of fire.

We shoot practical using the IPSC rules suitably adapted to comply with local range conditions. Bear in mind that the majority of the rules are there to govern competitive matches up to international standard and are largely irrelevant to local club practice. The safety rules however are applied 100% without question.

You could pretty much lift Chapter 8 of the IPSC rules up to and including Rule 8.5 as a good start.
Particular attention should be paid to "Under the direct supervision of the Range Officer" at all times and rules 8.4 and 8.5.

The UKPSA LBF Postal League contains a good selection of courses of fire designed for use on 25m gallery ranges and require minimal additional equipment or props. That will give you a good idea of what you can do.

If you have any experienced practical shooters they will be able to interpret the rules for you and show you how it's done. If not it would be well worth getting someone like Vanessa or another experienced Range Officer to come along and show you.
