New alarm requested by firearms licensing.

Just had a letter and long-story-short, due to the number of "weapons" I now own, or can own after recent variation, I need an audible alarm with dial up facility.

I already have an audible alarm but where am I going to find a 516K dial up modem?

Has anybody else had this?

I was told that Northants policy is anything over 9 then an alarm is required.

Most modern alarms can connect to your phoneline so they can dial/text a number. If you’re upping security, think about a camera setup that can email you when triggered and you can live view anytime. Keeps my FEO well happy and I probably have an above average amount of boom sticks.

No idea what the threshold is here.

I don't have a landline, probably need a GSM system.

I had an FEO say that when I moved into the area. 'due to the number of your guns, you will need a monitored alarm'
knowing what the law says, and that it is down to risk, not number of guns, I asked 'Is the crime that bad around her then that the risk is high?' he looked a bit worried for a second, then said 'oh, no, it's quite low round here, I'm sure your alarm will be fine' and signed off, and handed me my new ticket.

I forgot to mention, in the letter it says if I don't install said alarm and my rifles get accessed by unauthorised scrotes then I will be prosecuted as the alarm is now a condition of the certificate. helpsign

Report it to and ask advice from whichever shooting organisation you are a member of.

Sounds like more backdoor restrictions.

The Home Office guidance suggests that over 10 bangsticks moves you up to Level 2 (i.e Alarmed) security. The actual number depends on various factors, including crime rates.
Some areas it may be 10, other areas it could be 2...
