As per the subject, can someone recommend a 177 Air rifle, 6 ft/lbs with target sights suitable for target shooting, I would be using it for Bell target plus it keeps my eye in during the winter months as I can shoot it in the workshop.

I prefer pre-charge for convenience and less clanging around when I shoot it.

I gave up on the precharged after using it for a few months, a real feck on with fittings, seals, divers bottles, gauges, fittings, recharging oh I did I mention fittings and the like.

But if you are hell bent on it then I would recommend the Air Arms I had a 200 and it was an excellent shooter but I have heard that the 400 is even better.

But for Bell Target surely you should stay true to the spirit of the original and get your self a springer, I am fortunate to have a Lincoln Jefferies but a BSA, GEM or Brittannia will fit the bill nicely and you will have the pleasure of owning a piece of history.

I agree Adam, however these days a 200 is probably going to be cheaper to buy than a Lincoln.

True but a good springer doesn't cost the earth.

I have had numerous springers and PCP air rifles over the years, I gave up on PCP as too much faff. Consider gas ram rifles. All of the advantages, none of the disadvantages (PCP faff, springer recoil).

I have two gas ram BSA GRT Lightnings, one in .177 and a .22, they are excellent rifles, no springer 'boing' issues.

Now that Theoben's gas ram patents have run out, there are other manufacturers out there making good gas ram air rifles.

Air Arms s200. A dry air styrup pump and job’s a good ‘un!

Wish I had kept my s200...

They are great fun, the one I had a go with was left handed so a bit awkward for me.
Apparently UK legal as each bit of the magazine counts as the chamber (as it would in a revolver).
Not cheap though https://www.solware.co.uk/steyr-hunting ... -air-rifle
