Had a bit of time on my hands a few weeks back and decided to make the MKII version of my shooting/cleaning rest so I set to work with a bit of scrap pallet woodand some ply and here's the result.......

The rear rest folds flat so a bean bag rest can be used if required.I finished it with a few coats of shellac (as I had some already mixed) and I have added some steel plates to the underside to give a bit more weight, although it can be secured to a shooting bench by using a small ratchet strap that runs through a slot on the underside.A bit of foam rubber on the underside of it finished it off and added a bit of slip resistance.

Total cost was £2 as I had to buy a hinge and a latch for the rear rest, everything else I had knocking around :good:

I like the carry handle and the near match to the SVD, good effort!

Cheers, the carry handle used to grace the door to the cupboard under the stairs!.

Both the rest and the SVD are finished in amber shellac mixed from de-waxed flakes with a bit of added Russian red iodine added for good measure.

That is so in keeping with Soviet small arms, it's bloody genius!

Cheers mate, That's the look I wanted to achieve, what with the laminated wood.I did consider stenciling the markings found on a 54r crate onto it as I have a Cyrillic stencil sheet somewhere.

I'm afraid consideration is over, find the sheet, stencil it on. You know it makes sense! lol
