Hemswell, anybody?

Hi All

I'm new to the forum, returning to shooting after 10 years - no fault of my own I might add.

I'm waiting for my FAC to go through the system, dreaming of various rifles. In the past I had a few, 22LR, 303, 308, 44, and currently have only 22LR on my application as I have not joined a club, just have vermin/ rabbit shooting arranged.

I'm an ex-member of Hemswell club in Lincolnshire, so my question is this - to re-join, or to try another club? I'm just south of the Humber, right by the bridge. I realise there's a club in Hull, but they aren't cleared for 303, so are there any others I should look into?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Steve

You could try North Cotes Butts.

Well Hemswell is still going as far as I know and if you are up for a drive here is also in a thriving Bell target in the general area. In fact there is a come and try session tonight at the Stirrup Inn, Willoughton at 7.30pm tonight.

There is also North Cotes Butts, cleared to everything on the tunnel and 25m and with a covered point 50m recently upgraded. Plus they are linked to another club that shoots at Beckingham so 100-600m

Thanks guys, I'll look into the Butts, but to be honest, geographically speaking, Hemswell looks favourite.

Pretty sure Hemswell is 25m.

Not much legroom for a .303.

Maybe they are affiliated to somewhere where they shoot longer distances?

What about Reepham, its only 75mtrs but they shoot everything.

Might be a better option.

I just spoke to a guy who I used to see at Hemswell, he's now joined North Cotes Butts, as they have 25, 75 and 100 yard ranges.

They are marginally closer to me than Reepham, so I might pop over there and have a look one day when I'm off. I think I'm going to have to put a variation in as soon as I have bought my first!

I shouldn't jump the gun (pun intended), but this weekend I may just go and dig out all my 303 reloading gear from the garage...

Well I went over to North Coates yesterday, very impressed. So now I’m just a probationary member for three months, which is excellent, as that is probably how long I’ll have to wait for my ticket.

Then Variation and 303!

Thanks for the advice guys

Thanks christel, yes, lm looking forward to wasting some money on the 100m range with a 303 again, already sourcing reloading supplies!

Just the few months wait now!
