Moderator question

I'm new to owning a moderator and am unsure of the legal storage requirements for a moderator. Obviously they are a restricted item and 'on ticket' but do they have to be stored securely I.e in my gun cabinet?

If it's on your certificate it needs to be locked up when not in use. If you don't lock it up and it goes missing you will have a lot of explaining to do and may lose your certificate.
Why have you posted this in Forum news and announcements it's bound to be moved?

I did put an edit in to apologise and to say that I don't know how to move it.
I thought that was the case but wasn't sure.

As above, keep them in your cabinet. Mine sit on the shelf in the main part of my cabinet, others put them in the lock box if the cabinet also has one of those.

Is there any reason not to leave the moderator mounted on the rifle? Assuming that it will fit in the cabinet with it fitted obviously.

Yes. Condensation and pitting is a pretty serious reason to not leave it on...
Believe, I learnt the hard way.

Yep, absolutely take them off the rifle. I've seen the carcass of a corroded Reflex T8 moderator which was seized on the rifle it came off. Ruined the threads and crown of the barrel, possibly some of the rifling if the corossion went in there.

As mentioned if you fire the gun then leave it on the gases and condensation can cause some serious problems.
However if you take it off after use, let it cool and flush it out you can then put it back on the rifle with little ill effect.
