I'm impressed - I sent off for a variation on Thursday 24th and it's back already, first post Monday 28th, everything just as requested. Considering it covers a weekend period I think that's exceptional.

I've been a customer with Sussex for over 40 years and most of that time the service has been fairly mediocre, however over the last 4-5 years I've found the service very good.

Interesting use of the word "customer" there, implying the service is optional.

Get ready for some disruption.... Sussex has just swallowed up Surrey too! Apparently they decided to merge the two and got right up to the point where they closed the Surrey office when suddenly they realised that the people working in the Surrey office didn't want to commute all the way to Lewes to go to work..... So it is apparently a bit of a nightmare at the moment.

Renewals and variations seem ok. But grants are taking longer so I have heard. I hope not too much longer as I am waiting for mine at the moment!

This is strange as I sent off for a variation back in September and that took 4 weeks! Previous to that i did get a variation sorted in a week. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much consistency down to this merge but hopefully it will improve soon

A quick FAC turnaround does not a good licensing department make.

Also remember the service they provide is not to us certificate holders but to the public at large as firearms certification is there for public safety reasons not for the direct benefit of gun owners, which for some strange reasoning we have to pay for as opposed to the beneficiaries, the public. In a sane and reasonable society firearms certification, we are not licensed we are certified as able to posses firearms, then the process would be funded from the public purse.

I'm not sure that I'm too keen on being certified.
