New applications
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any information regarding new applications?
Given the circumstances I heard that all New applications were being put on hold a while back, I can’t seem to find any updates as to when they will be accepted for processing.
Thanks

Re: New applications
Always best to get this information from the horses mouth as all certification departments have their own ways. Contact your firearms certification department for the exact current situation there may even be information on their website so look there.

Re: New applications
That would be a bad move ... The Met are asking people to limit calls to URGENT matters only and being honest, a new application is not, in most cases, urgent. Check the web-site or an email possibly and if you really have to, but a call, NO.Cornish-Viking wrote:Agree above. Give you local department a call.
From the Met website:
We are accepting renewal applications for shotgun, firearms or explosives certificates online only. This is due to home visits no longer being possible, following government guidance on the need for social distancing. Processing times will take a little longer than usual. We thank you for your patience and ask you not to contact the Firearms Licensing Team unless urgent or necessary.

Re: New applications
Speaking to GMP last week about my 1-1 variation, they are processing variations but no new applications, any new applications would be returned until further notice.

Re: New applications
Good afternoon everyone, I just relocated from the states and am looking to get engaged with the local gun clubs, etc. I hold a concealed weapons permit and am trained on Glocks, however I'm in the process of getting my certificate for a shotgun, but ran into the same issues (links have been down for the past 6 weeks) as you all did. I contacted our local authority, Roehampton Police Office, and they pointed me to the Kingston Upon Thames 24 hour police office where I can apparently fill out a physical form.
Look forward to meeting folks in the community!

Re: New applications
The links are still there however a new application cannot be made. Doing a physical one will not be any better as it will be returned to you unprocessed. My advice is just wait until the links are back up and then apply. I also doubt if KoT will let you - it will not be considered essential.seattlexpat wrote:Good afternoon everyone, I just relocated from the states and am looking to get engaged with the local gun clubs, etc. I hold a concealed weapons permit and am trained on Glocks, however I'm in the process of getting my certificate for a shotgun, but ran into the same issues (links have been down for the past 6 weeks) as you all did. In the mean time, get all of your information together including references - which may cause a problem as they need to be UK resident and have known you for two years. An old version of the paper form can be found at: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... _-_PDF.pdf which will show all the information you need.
As an aside, I was due to go to Seattle again in late summer although now cancelled for my niece's wedding. She is an ex-pat living in North Bend but working in downtown Seattle. Over teh last 25 years or so, I have been numerous times and it is one of my favourite US cities.

Re: New applications
But, this form even if they give you one, will still have to be submitted to the Met.Police FET at Empress State Building, and thus it will just be returned to you at best, or just ignored.seattlexpat wrote: I contacted our local authority, Roehampton Police Office, and they pointed me to the Kingston Upon Thames 24 hour police office where I can apparently fill out a physical form.
It would be best that you just waited until such times as the restrictions are changed, and keep an eye on the Met.Police website (and here) and then submit the form knowing it will get processed.

***Update***
Got a hold of the Met Police, they sent Covid Grant form, form 201 and fee schedule (attached). I'll update you all if I get a response.
By the way, I grew up in North Bend before moving to Seattle. Yes, I love the Seattle area...especially the part about gun rights :)
