Buying from the EU after Dec 31st

I just emailed my German supplier of bullets and cases asking if he'll continue shipping to UK after we leave........here's his reply:
"After Brexit, we won’t ship to UK anymore. Sorry.

So with duty and UK mark-ups, shooting's going to get considerably more expensive.....ah but wait a minute, we've taken back control........

Let me translate that for you;
"You don't buy enough from me to make it worth my while dealing with a bit of extra paperwork" I'm going to guess if your order was in the tens of thousands of pounds he would sell to you.
It's funny however that sellers in China have no problem shipping low value items to the UK as you will know if you shop on eBay

Its not 'funny' at all - its because the EU has a Free Trade Deal with China.
China is the one of the EU's biggest trading partners, and Chinese traders have easy access to the UK as a result.
Their sellers don't have any 'bits of paperwork' to do at the moment, so your comparison is a bit pointless
That trade deal stops for us when we leave, and will have to be re-negotiated.
It will end our access to tariff free Chinese goods which is not just 'cheap tat' but also high-tech goods that are unobtainable elsewhere*
*Well at least until the 'UK Powerhouse' gets going and we can buy a 'Dudley Smartphone' , 'Cornish iPad' or 'Luton Laptop'

I bought 200 PPU 7.65x53 cases from Hunting Sport last year. I had to go to them because Henry Krank don't import that calibre. They wanted to see a copy of my FAC address page and ammunition page before they would send them though, to make sure I was licenced for that calibre.

Having never bought anything except from UK suppliers or specialty stuff from the USA. I am not going to lose any sleep over not being able to purchase from Germany. If I have to pay a bit more to a UK supplier I am not worried. My local registered firearms dealer is a 20-minute drive away. I hope people support his business so he is always a 20-minute drive away.
