Any thought on this Lego Toy - or not?

That's a serious mistake in my opinion and I was pleased to see that the manufacturer has seen sense and withdrawn it.

it doesn't look like a toy. it looks like a gun, that is brightly coloured. still looks like a gun though.... what colour exactly is a gun?

Exactly this. There seems to be a stigma against guns that aren't just metal/wood or black plastic. why should brightly coloured guns be accused as "looking like toys"

As for the Lego compatibility-the Manufactures made sure to never mention Lego in their advertising and refereed to toy blocks or building blocks of which there are many. the only real leg LEGO could stand on would be that the font used for Block19 was copyrighted by them for their logo. The only reason the manufactures have taken it down is because the protracted legal battle would be more hassle than its worth.

Shockingly I don’t mind it, it’s obviously a firearm, at least it’s a real pistol. I find it a lot stranger that they aren’t allowed short rifles without a sbr stamp unless they call it a pistol and put a slightly weird stock on it to get around that law.

Nowt wrong with that. A child will only mistake that for a toy of not educated properly. Guns in the house, then educate your kids. Society is not about dragging everyone down to the lowest denominator.

Given Americans have a habit of stupidly leaving guns in places kids can find them it's probably for the best.
That said LEGO probably don't like A) money being made off of their brand product appeal and B) especially having their product associated with firearms - their being in the children toys industry and C) worry about being associated (albeit innocently) with the tragic death of a child some time hence. You know how litigious everyone is on that side of the pond. So clearly the manufacturers realized they'd be locked into expensive legal action for the foreseeable future and the slice of the market they'd enjoy wouldn't be worth the hassle.

I'd really love one and have tentatively requested my girlfriend (US based) obtain one if possible - it'll be an investment as they're now going to be a limited and therefore rare-ish item.

Looks dangerous - imagine stepping on it barefoot on the way to the toilet.

Being serious I saw something about this earlier but didn't realise it was a real gun until your post. It had the caption "We wanted the second amendment to simply be too painful to tread on".

A gun should be kept away from those to young to understand them and their implications. It doesn't matter what it looks like, a child would be just as likely to pick up any gun.

In fact, this makes me want to experiment with my toddler. I have plenty of Airsoft guns, I may put out a selection and see which he is first to pick up.
