Blaze Publishing has taken over as editors of The Journal, the 4 times a year publication of the NRA.
James Marchington is the Editor and has emailed me the following, he is happy for me to post it here.
"I'd be specially happy to hear from people who can supply regular event reports and photos, to a professional standard. Please do point out that my inbox is often rather swamped, so not to expect an immediate acknowledgement - but I will respond to everyone eventually!

For those that don not know James, I can vouch for him being a really nice guy - first met him when he was the editor of Sporting Shooter.

I was quite surprised to hear that Blaze had taken over the NRA Journal. I wonder why?
It is not on general sale and has a fixed circulation, being distributed 'free' to members, it does not pay contributors and it has a small number of loyal advertisers - who probably advertise to support the NRA as much as anything.
Where is the opportunity to make money?
I can only assume that the NRA tendered out the Journal and Blaze - who have the printing and distrbution facilities - were the only bidders - or takers - perhaps someone could enlighten us.

All I have been told is that Blaze offered to do it for less money based on more advertising.
It didn't go out to tender nor was I given any indication this was happening until it was a done deal.

Thinking about it I'd probably be looking for more news from the regions. Also a bit more coverage of non TR disciplines?

Funny, I don't recall getting a request for articles before.
I'm not sure I want a magazine filled with adverts.
Why wasn't it offered for tender I wonder.
Perhaps it's a question for the next GC meeting?
