FYI the bolts on these are A3 not A4. They have a full length safety catch that touches the scope as opposed to the half safety on the A4.

???

My WW2 dated Remington A4 seems to have a standard safety too - as far as I know they ALL did!
It was just one of the many design faults with the rifle
Er, NO THANKS - at least, not at that price!
When they first came out the Gibbs A4's were selling in the UK for about £1000, usually less.
Two years o so down the line, and the newer version (with a new improved 2nd-generation M73B1 replica scope; the 1st gen. copies kept breaking) is now 40% more expensive!!

Just had a Google around because the A4 I've handled had a half-length safety and the owner told me this was one of the differences between A3 and A4... Turns out the shorter safety was an after-market post-war product and was never issued by the military. My bad!

Yip - Lyman brought out a load of such gizmos after the war to capitalise on folk customising old mil-surp bolt actions into sporting guns.

You are hereby fined 100 SSA 6.8SPC cases.... fingerscrossed

Before purchasing one of these I suggest you read the following article;

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.tvg/G ... Sniper.pdf

I saw the original rifle before it was rebuilt and it was very poorly finished. The Chinese manufactured scope was equally appalling.
