Evening all,
We had our club AGM last night and it was announced that one of the club members had been arrested for being over the drink drive limit
Not only will he/she be loosing there driving license but the Police have stated that the individual will have their FAC revoked, but can re-apply in two years time!
A sobering thought.

Well there are no excuses for being over the limit. I have a glass of red next to me right now however I will be walking towards the Shed as opposed to hopping on the 'bike in the morning.

Ouch, losing your FAC for one DUI? And only for being arrested? Has he not been convicted?

Sounds like the long arm of the law going that bit too far. I daresay a court challenge would swiftly see the police doing a U-turn, probably before it got in front of a judge to prevent them explicitly being told "thou shalt not". I'm sure the police can't take action like this before you've been convicted of something.

Chief Constable can revoke your license at any time if he/she believes that your "fitness" has changed. You do have the option of appeal, through the court, but that would be expensive.....

imho, if you are irresponsible enough to be CONVICTED of drunk driving, then you have set out the you clearly can't be trusted with a firearm.

I agree I think this should also be extended to parking tickets, going overdrawn on your bank account and perhaps even forgetting to return library books on time. All simple tasks which if you every fail to do correctly are a certain sign of gross irresponsiblity.

Crap. None of the above can adversely affect a human being in a random manner.

There are always circumstances to a drink-drive arrest - was this guy just a smidge over the morning after the night before, or was he properly p*** and should have been tucked up in bed?

We need to be responsible with cars and alcohol, mixing the two is far more dangerous to the general public than a maintstream shooting related incident (i.e. not a man on a rampage)
