The difference between Remington and Savage bolts

Has anyone ever noticed how close dimensionally the Savage 12 and Remington 700 bolt dimensions are? Both are two lug and both are within a few thou across the lugs and the bolt diameter.
Coincidence or something proven and well tested?

Just cioincidence, I think.....They will also be not far from the old PP Mauser sizes as well..LOL
