Anyone using or have used MTC optics, are you happy with the scope ?

Looking at the Viper range..
Thanks

Had a 6-26x50 Viper and for the money it's a lot of scope, the Taipan are only a few £s more for better glass and the new Genesis range is reported to be better again. My only gripes with the Viper I had were the SCD recticle is too crowded, the AMD is much cleaner, and a gradual loss of image quality after about 18x mag. but this is a very common problem with a lot of scopes. If I was buying one I'd go for the new Genesis.
Iancxx on here now has my Viper, I'll ask him to put his views on it here tomorrow (he's on night shift).

Adjustments on my viper v poor, not consistent and just horrible. Avoid.

I had a 4-16x Viper on my Sako Quad and for the money it was a good scope, although with all budget end scopes (in my experience) it would 'milk out' at top magnification in strong light.

I have a Viper 4-16x50. I regard it as a budget scope and so it isn't fair to expect too much from it, although MTC are (ever) keen to suggest that it punches above its weight. The whole package is good value for what it is, but its no Leupold or S&B.
Overall I think the optics are quite good for the price. As others have observed the (SCB?) ballistic reticule is a bit busy. The turrets do not inspire much confidence, the clicks are a imprecise and feel mushy. I wouldn't want to use it in a scenario where I needed to adjust it frequently and precisely i.e. multi range shoots.
After a short time on my .223, I now use mine on my 10/22 gallery rifle, where it is zeroed at 25 yds (and stays there) and its been fine for that use.

I have two, the 4-16x50 and the 6-24x56 and switch between them on my AR15, the low mag one is good for 4.5max service rifle comps and the other one for 600+ yard shoots although I will probably sell the latter as it's not getting that much use. I label the turrets for distance (1-500yds) and find the clicks are very precise and repeatable so easy to return to zero, also the SCB ballistic reticule makes for simple aiming off for windage, not many scopes in that price range do the job that well.

take a look at Brian Fox's cheap range, £124 delivered and I have been very pleasantly surprised with the view from mine.

bnz, if you haven't already bought a scope give these folks a look. For the money you won't do better. Most if not all their scopes are etched glass and they are crystal clear. I have a couple of their M30's and those things have taken a beaten, both are still going strong.
