The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden has one of the world's largest collections of airworthy WWI aircraft, and by today's standards they look terrifyingly flimsy.

Anyone been? Lovely collection, the Swiss Cottage Garden next door is well worth a visit as well.

I went there when I was about 10 ,1960s , and I still have the programme .
It always was a good place to go .

I am thinking not much has changed since then. Apart from they now have a Falconry there. Which if you ask me is not worth the entrance fee if one only sees the living area. The flying display is worth all the money.

I went to an air show there a few years ago Christel, i love the place and the aircraft.

I must try and get to one of the shows this year.

Another must for me every year is the Flying Legends air show at Duxford.

Big piston aero engines really float my boat.

Duxford is well worth a visit. Cost a bomb to get in though.

I remember at Shuttlewoth they had some veteran car show, not sure if they do it every year, it was really good.

Duxford is worth the visit just to see the TSR2 that is there.

Cranfield used to be good - a lot of the old military planes used to form up over us and then beat up the airfield.
We still hear the occasional supercharged engine fly over us - don't know from where to where.
Saw the last Vulcan do circuit and bump there from our back garden. The roar was tremendous.
Woburn have a Tiger Moth event every year - the planes take off over the estate road, so if you are driving along you get a terrific view.

Cranfield also have a Lightening that does the occasional quick shuffle down the runway, we can hear it from home.

Ah! Must keep my ears open for that.
Another interesting fact is that the Snowdome at MK lines up directly with the runway at Cranfield.
Hope the Jerries never find that one out......
