Lever action sights

I took the plunge and ordered a set of iron sights for my Marlin 1894 after reading about Skinners sights on a US forum.

I have to say they are really good.

I asked regarding export etc and got a very prompt reply saying 'all OK to UK' and sure enough today, 10 days later, I received my bits, to my door for the website price quoted, if you get my drift.

Anyone thinking of irons for any lever actions should try Skinners website. Very comprehensive contents.

PS I have no connection to this company except this purchase.

Well done John. I was going to scope up my Marlin but as I was so close to competition time and The Phoenix I thought I'd wait until next year. I put a Williams peep sight on, zeroed it and then promptly shot a PB of 298 on it's first outing. I'm impressed even close in.

Might go for a Scout Rail, QD mounts and peep sight yet!

I have a Marlin with the XS Ghost ring sights, and a Rossi 92 with a tang mounted peep sight.
My scores say that can I shoot better with the irons than a scope....at least out to 25 yds. My eyesight is nothing special either ( I am +5 in my right eye with slight astigmatism)

Although - I do find I need to practice getting just the right sight picture for each target.

And iron sights just look so much better than a scope on a lever action - just my view.

Which version of the skinner sight did you go for?

I went for the tactical version plus new foresight and a blanking piece to fit when I remove the 'issued' sight.

I hope the 'ears' will protect the aperture more. I looks a bit frail without!

Have a look on Skinners site. They sell various foresight heights plus the calculations for adjusting.

I have XS on my 1894P. The Skinners, as good as they are, were too high for me to be able to mount a Leupold Scout Scope as well.......
