license application woes
I applied for my license almost 3 months ago now and had my visit from the feo about 5 weeks ago and was told my license should be with me in 5-6 weeks, I know my referee's and club have been contacted just after my feo visit, so as its now 5 weeks passed I thought I would enquire when to expect my license only to be told they have a massive backlog and are only just processing April applications wtfwtf so looks like I have a long wait ahead of me.
I would of thought once you have had your visit and referee's and club checked that it's only a matter of typing up the license ?

Re: license application woes
It also has to be signed by the head cop and all it takes is for he/she to be on an extended holiday to make everything grind to a halt as FAC's will be considered low priority.
If you havent heard anything in a week give them a little nudge.

Hi Primer
PM me please.
Won't help you (unless you are an NRA Member) but will help me compile the national picture. I have been asked to go into print on this and related issues.

Re: license application woes
I did reply to their email asking if it could be speeded up as I have a gun put to one side at a shop for me and also my sgc expires in a month.
The firearms manager responded and said they were experiencing delays at the moment but that my sgc should be with me before my old one expires, as they are concentrating on renewals, maybe my feo wasn't aware of the delays in his own department, I did ask for a cotermius sgc this time so not sure how they will do that without processing my fac application.
It doesn't help that they got rid of 7 staff from the licensing team in May so have created their own backlog.

Re: license application woes
My SGC in Kent earlier this year was 3 months from sending off the initial application. My FEO called me a week after the form went in for a visit the following week, then it was a 10 week wait for the cert to come through to door. I was told of delays, so was pretty happy with 3 months. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to have it quicker, but all things considered I thought this was ok.
It will be interesting to see how long my FAC takes in a month or so's time...
Fingers crossed yours comes through soon though!

Re: license application woes
Christel's renewal is due end of November from memory, she is filling in forms, speaking to neighbours, mailing stuff to club secretaries and trying to decide what to add this time. I suspect she will be adding a few more than last time..
Re: license application woes
I'd like to sit through an application process to see what takes so long as to me all the hard work has already been done:
Application done
Gun and ammo safe purchased and fitted
House alarm fitted
Feo visit done
Referee's contacted
Club contacted
I'm already in their system being a SGC holder
What more is there to be done?
