Re: Thoughts on a Mini 14
Hi Sim G,
thats great, did have fun with it when I used a club one last week. I thought your gun looked really good; where did you source the goodies to customize it or is there anywhre you would recommend?
Thanks very much,
Dave

Brownells for most of it. The mo- rod though, you won't get shipped to the UK by the maker. Keep an eye out on eBay dot com and try to negotiate.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

You know why all the bull pup kits conversion kits went off the market about 25 years ago and never came back?
Because everyone that made them lost their arse and went out of business. They were all junk.
The Mini 14?
Well they may be ok in a straight pull, other then that, every one I have seen was a inaccurate, jam o matic, over priced problem.

Re: Thoughts on a Mini 14
If Sportsmans hadn't just put Steyr AUG's back up to £1400 i would have suggested looking at those (previously £799
) I've got one and its a great little plinking and fox gun
You might still be able to find one for that price if the retailer hasn't noticed Sportsmans putting them back up to the original price . . .

I did have a look at an AUG but from the tone of the reviews I read it seemed to suggest waiting a few years to sort out the 'issues'. It did look interesting though.
I had a go with the club's straight pull AK47 (Saiga) look alike which was quite fun and then in another thread someone was discussing them. Looked on the RusMillitary site and was taken by the 'sporter' version. It was CHEAP, £495 and had a longer barrel so shooting out to 400 - 600 yards seemed reasonable. Quite tempted I must say.

If this AK47 clone is the same thing has Doz has then I am very impressed with them. We shot a McQueen together and it rained so much water was running out of the end of the barrel like it had a hose pipe stuffed in the receiver and it never missed a beat.

I am glad that you said about the Sportsman putting the price back up Blackstuff because I thought I lost my marbles and had imagined the lower price. I too would buy one at the lower price but not at £1400.Blackstuff wrote:If Sportsmans hadn't just put Steyr AUG's back up to £1400 i would have suggested looking at those (previously £799) I've got one and its a great little plinking and fox gun

Re: Thoughts on a Mini 14
I would've snapped one up straight away for £799, unfortunately i couldn't keep it in my pants and bought one of the first batch for £1200Chapuis wrote:
