What biscuits does you local plod like then? razz

I have been around things all my life that go bang so I have high levels of immunity. If our laws we like those in the US then I would feel a little more relaxed about it. But all this good reason to own, having your ticket with you, watch how much ammo you buy, etc. etc. takes it beyond a normal pastime. A couple of .22s that are well sorted, a couple of lever actions, and perhaps something else to provide a bit of variety and I will be happy.

I have been involved with air rifles and shotguns a long time and have only recently got into section 1.
The more I learn about guns the more interested I become and the more firearms I would like. The law makes it harder, unless you happen to like section 58 (2), that opens up a whole new world of collecting

I don't really know  I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it's American walnut but I'm not sure if it was referring to the Harrington & Richardson rifles or the NEF ones (same company, different brand.)

I suppose you'll be going along to Cawdor on Sunday for the last session of the year?

I'm still in sunny Africa so won't make it.

You're the Secretary - you'd think you'd have the shoots sorted around your days off!

.

Aye, but I've also got to sort the days round Cawdor's use of their range!
Unfortunately, it's Wife, Job, Shooting in that order!

I know what you mean. At the moment it seems like everything gets priority except shooting - must sort that!

BTW it looks like it's just a practice day on Sunday.

Same here. My father lives with us and my air rifles from when I was kiddy live with his shotguns in his cabinet. (Of course I don't have direct access to the cabinet.) Living in a village owning shotguns and .22lr isn't uncommon. nor is something heavier for foxes etc.

Not sure about collecting per se. I think you have to one or two really deep interests which I don't. I like lots of things a little and consequently I know a little about a lot. As I said in my intro thread I was considering looking into having one proper modern bolt action centrefire but I have since decided that isn't going to be practical for me. But there are centrefire rifles I like because I like them even though I have no real desire to shoot them seriously. For example I like Ishapore 2A and BSA CF2 Stuzen, but I think saying my reason for wanting to own them is a desire to collect full stocked .308/7.62x51mm is probably bending the law a little too much!!! How many guns constitute a proper collection anyway in legal terms? 2 or 3? I am little mystified how considering our system how you can go from 1 to many similar rifles, but obviously it can be done because many here have lots of rifles. All good fun.

how about a nice little straight pull Schmidt Rubin in 7.5x55. They always seem to get people talking as they are a bit unusual

Rocket-dog,
I'm sure various members of the forum will be happy to help you spend your money and kick off your collecting, in fact I can help you with a level action 22lr! ;)

I do like straight pull actions. During winter early Sunday mornings are spent watching biathlon on Europsort. The Russians build some lovely .22lt biathlon trainers.
