I don't know what kind of accuracy people expect but these two groups were shot from an Entreprise receivered 1963 BSA last Thursday with DAG surplus:

Used a Caldwell Rock & rear rest with a Tapco Gen IV railed top cover & 3-10x40 Zeiss Conquest scope.
Took it onto the long distance range later & was hitting the 12" target out at 600yds nine times out of ten.

I've a SUIT & associated top cover somewhere too; one of the Israeli ones from Gunthings before they stopped selling stuff to us furriners. :bad:

Did your DAG cycle OK? Running MEN through mine was a real pain in the you know what.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Out of interest, are these L1s manufactured as straight pulls or converted?

Hmmm, best way to explain it is "re-manufactured" as straight pull.

Original upper and lower receiver, bolt and modified bolt carrier with front rod/piston baring face removed, de-activated gas block, no gas tube, and new barrel without bleed.

Thats it in a nut shell.

Cheers, John.

Hmm. How do they get away with that when we can't convert other mil firearms?

Move along, these aren't the droids you're looking for.

It's a simple Jedi mind trick

Thats a very good question mate, it appears common sense has had a part to play...Original M1 Carbines are available now and talk of Garands in the works!

The thing is, as long as the Home Office agree with the standard of conversion work that puts a firearm beyond re-conversion without a massive amount of work (and access to Sec5 components) to a particular type, then the Sky's the limit.

I think the fact that new straight pull fals have been available for a while now (with the same mods to prevent auto function) in the UK showed the Home Office that using original L1's in the re-build isn't really a problem

The old "once a Sec 5 always a sec 5" idea was just a silly blunt approach after all, and made no sense.

Before Sim G joins in with a counter argument....I am sure he will he just can't help himself

I would point out, Home Office Approved and on the Sec 1 list!

Thanks. I ask because I would have been perfectly happy to import an HK416 and get it converted (at great expense). Anyway, I don't want to drag this thread off-topic. :-)

Aye. Didn't have to alter the gas setting from where it was for a mix of Indian & Hirtenberger I used in May.

Mine's neither; I'm fortunate to be over the Pond two or three times a year & have access to what my own Government deems me untrustworthy to have yet the US has no objection to, so long as I follow their rules. :cool2:
