Yes but... if you use proper blackpowder rather than one of the modern substitutes you'll need to apply for an explosives certificate as well which is a seperate form (or at least it was the last time I did it). Special storage arrangements apply to keeping powder at home but it's all pretty simple stuff.

So each firearm has to be nominated on cert, serial numbers etc .. Do pistols have to be "long barrel" ??

Original blackpowder guns = no licence needed, they are antique

Modern blackpowder guns - Section 1 or Section 2 depending on type, pistols can be any barrel length as they are muzzle loading so not under the Section 5 ruling

The main difference is IF you want to use Blackpowder, this requires a different document - an Explosives Licence - PLUS a suitable wooden storage container
BUT
Run them on one of the DEDICATED purpose made black powder substitutes = not classed as explosive = no extra paperwork needed

Yep, each one nominated and serial numbers logged, however the barrel business does not apply (as Saddler just beat me to above!). In other words you can have a pistol with a barrel like the designer intended.

NRA has a pair of (replica) percussion cap duelling pistols for hire.

No human(oid) targets allowed I'm afraid, and no refunds on the one that isn't fired!

The explosives certificate is available form your Police Firearms Department and is actually free of charge, also the new Acquire and Keep Exp Certs include your recipient transfer notice on the back so no more trying to track down a faceless name in the HSE to squire your missing paperwork.

Are the modern muzzle loader propellants just as smoky and corrosive as black powder ?
