Steve, at what approximate round count do you find your barrels starting to go off?

The last barrel was changed at just over 6000rnds. It was fitted in June 2009 and was replaced in October this year. Visually it looked OK but the groups were opening up at long range and holding the ICFRA Target V Bull was becoming a problem. The Leade had moved forward and after serious thought and discussion with my gunsmith it was decide to replace the barrel.
The new barrel now has a total of 61 rounds through it, not even fully run in yet. It is showing promise of being a very good barrel. I have shot a measured group at 600yds of 10 shots in 2 1/2 inches, so I am quite pleased. (shot using target sights and a sling and some good handloads)

The rifling looked like new, crown looked perfect, no throat wear under the bore scope.

Still the 30 degree bend in the barrel should have given Rodger some clue as to why it had been changed.

Just add a bit of windage on the sights - no problem.

I suspect the barrels I have used have seen nowhere near 6000 rounds.
