Re: New Sub-forum Suggestion: Optics
Personally I think this would be a great idea. Even with a background in photography, I must admit, I struggle at times to get my mind around optics for shooting, so any advice from the experst would be great.

Re: New Sub-forum Suggestion: Optics
We discussed this in staff about a year ago and decided against it, we have revisited that discussion in the light of this thread and our decision still stands.
If you follow the logic then there would be multiplicity of sub forums which will just dilute the board as whole.
Scope discussions relate to their purpose and as such are usually best discussed in the context of the rifle they are to used on and this is best done in an existing forum as happens already.
The library forum is the place for reference type posts and if suitable posts or links are identified then we could add them to a scope thread in the library as depository of scope knowledge rather than just a list of peoples opinions of current scopes.

Basically chiming in late, but to echo dromias point about watering the board down... splitting subjects off into yet another sub forum will mean just another sub forum I won't read, regardless of how interesting the discussion may be!

In reply to having a 'scope section or not...wot Dromia says :)
Honestly, I forgot we discussed it last year and I forgot the decision/reasoning behind the decision.
I have spent some of today in the garden, 12 degrees! Spring is almost here

Re: New Sub-forum Suggestion: Optics
That's a shame but its your forum. Personally I would rather have a optics sub forum than grumpy old men or some of the other stuff on here but there you go just my personnel opinion I know absolutely nothing about scopes and I mean nothing but there are obviously a lot of people on here who do I would like to of picked there brains.
As I get older I find my self questioning why I am struggling with milsurp rifles and the sights. Reading some of the posts on this forum has pushed me to question whether I would be better of at my age lashing out a bit of money and buying some black gun stuff and may be sticking some exotic glass on top of it and reaching out oh hell I don't know to may be 200yds and to be able to actually hit the bull.
Since coming here I have invested in Le Wilson dies and arbor press,s for instance I had never even heard of them before I came here I have purchased comparators never used them before in my life before I came here I am building ammo for my Steyr un like any thing I have built before and it is making a difference.
I am ready to learn about scopes/optics and there is a wealth of information on this forum but OK we are not going down that route.
I guess I will go see what they are up to in Grumpy old men.
But never mind you have obviously discussed this amongst the moderators and ruled it out. But I have to say your reasoning makes no sense at all to me.
