Ruger 77/44 - Any Views

#1 Post by Zilberbak »

All,

With the Shooting Show this coming weekend and a spare .44 slot on my ticket any ideas or opinions of the Ruger 77/44.

I have already a Marlin .357 so hesitant to go for another lever action (altough the Chiappa Alaskan Scout looks interesting) so I was looking at the Ruger 77/44.

Does anyone have experience of this rifle in terms of accuracy?

Appreciate any help.

Our club has one as a club rifle, certainly not a bad bit of kit and as usable (as any other .44) out to 100m and beyond.

I had a Marlin under lever in .44 and had also looked at the Ruger, in the end I sold the Marlin and bought a Henry Big Boy, apart from 2 faulty firing pins (bad batch apparently) it's a superb rifle, makes the Marlin and Ruger look like they were made out of surplus meccano parts
