Re: Upgrade Badger's P14
It's already a .308 barrel and it's a heavy target profile so just pop a 30-06 reamer down it or even 300 win mag .I did a few 300wm years ago and the only problem was getting the mag feed plate modded to feed 4 rounds .1ooo yds --- no problem . clapclap

Re: Upgrade Badger's P14
Hmmm, according to wikipedia, it's like the 7.62x51, but a tad snappier ! We were thinking of something slower and quieter, like a subsonic 338 or even .45 ACP

New barrel in 358 Winchester - sorted - you'll have to learn to make you own ammunition, but if us 'bald monkeys' can do it, you should find it only moderately taxing! :55:
Seriously 'tho, I was in your position regarding what to do with a rifle. I wanted to be able to have ammunition that was good out to about 400m but something I could also use subsonic ammo in as well. The only round that seemed to tick all the boxes was the 358 Win. I could make cheap subsonic ammunition (and plinking rounds) with 357 bullets or I could use 35 cal rifle bullets for longer ranges. The only downside was that the vast majority of 35 cal rifle bullets are for hunting and not target work. Lack of money was the main problem, but being messed about by Grampian's Firearms Dept at that time killed off that project for good.
